How to fundraise for your service trip in a few easy ways:
1. Set up a fundraising page on VolunteerForever.com, Facebook, GoFundMe, or Kickstarter.
Sign up for free at one of these sites and create your own fundraising page. A fundraising page will help you tell your story and collect funds to support your service trip. You can explain the service trip, why you want to volunteer, and why your help is needed. Check out this website for some great tips about fundraising online.
2. Ask your network
If you are celebrating your birthday or a holiday, ask for funding for your service trip rather than receiving gifts. Your network will be astonished with the work you will be doing through volunteering for a service trip! Direct everyone to your fundraising page or simply collect personal donations.
3. Use social media
People can easily click a link to be directed to your fundraising page. Share the link to your page on all of your social media platforms to reach your widest audience.
4. Sell unwanted items
How many things are lying around your house that you’re dying to get rid of? Host a yard sale to earn cash for your unwanted items, or list them online using websites such as Letgo, Ebay, Amazon, Craigslist, Poshmark, Mercari, and even the Facebook Marketplace. Consider bringing clothing to local second-hand stores to be sold.
5. Partner with a restaurant
As a volunteer who wants to travel with a non-profit organization, you can approach a restaurant and inform them that you are fundraising for a service trip. Ask if they will support your fundraiser by donating a portion of all profits made during one night. Invite your network to bring lots of business to the restaurant, and make sure you thank the restaurant by sharing pictures of your volunteer work.
6. Showcase your talents
Even your special talents can earn you money! If you’re an artist, sell your work. If you’re a singer or dancer, host a special performance. Whatever you can do, use your special talents to help pay for your service trip.
